EL GEWAN ISLAND, 2025
Elgewan Island Textile" captures the transformation of Qatar’s coastline through the creation of man-made islands, focusing specifically on Elgewan Island. This work reflects the rapid urban expansion and the evolving landscape where natural shoreline gave way to engineered environments, blending luxury residential living with high-end commercial spaces. The piece explores how these artificial islands have introduced a new lifestyle paradigm, redefining notions of home, community, and leisure not only in Qatar but across the region. Through material and pattern, the textile narrates the tension between constructed environments and natural heritage, offering a visual commentary on the ever-shifting relationship between place, identity, and modern living.
