Celebration I & Celebration II, 2022

These set of tapestries were exclusively designed to be showcased in MATHAF (Arab Museum of Modern Art) as part of the FIFA World Cup 2022 global celebrations of Art, Sports and Culture. The rugs are adorned with a contemporary Arabic typography that spells out the names of all the stadiums where the tournament was held. In addition, the rugs feature a minimalist light bulb design, which is a common decorative element in Qatari culture, often used during celebrations and special occasions.

The second rug, on the other hand, incorporates confetti, a globally recognized symbol of festivities and merrymaking, that is also often used in Qatar’s vibrant celebrations. Both rugs are the result of an extensive design process that combines traditional rug-making techniques with contemporary graphics to create visually stunning pieces.
